ALBUM OF THE YEAR: FEARLESS!
Monday, February 8, 2010
1) Album of the Year: FEARLESS!
2) You've probably noticed that this blog is...you know...DEAD.
Therefore, I think I owe you guys a super long post. Don't you agree?
I thought WRONG.
The End.
Oh and then, there's this:
First day of school.
Monday, January 4, 2010
First day of school...I enter the class, and I see Joshua, Kenneth and Tomus already in class. That's pretty awesome.
Then, during awesome, you can see the bunch of 2I people chatting with each other...
The 2I bond is still there after the holidays. SOOPER AWESOME!
During Morning Reading, I totally...well....did not read :D
'Battlefield' and 'Cowboy Casanova' was too busy being stuck in my head...and then sometimes Taylor Swift interrupts in a friendly way.... Once again, AWESOME!
Then there's all that stuff about choosing monitors...blah blah blah...choosing seats...bla blah blah... AND TO THINK, teachers say "I treat y'all has equals'
And do stuff democratically...WHAT?! Plus, I'm Chem Rep.
Then Chinese class...simply ridiculous...we mix classes with 3A and 3B, with 3B being the sports class...
Clearly, as the rumors go, they ain't that intelligent. They find Tetris lame. So far, the only people I know who find Tetris lame are those who can't play properly. Go say Pong is lame, go ahead!
See where your Modern Warfare comes from without Pong, Mario and especially TETRIS!!
GO AHEAD, PLAY TETRIS
At least there's Joshua, Daryl and Spencer there in chinese class...phew!
Recess was great.
Then...English was awesome...the only teacher that can remember my name so fast...pro...
Tomus' cool name owned the teacher! haha.
A Maths started instantly. Darn. I nearly fell asleep. Or Died. Or both. One of those.
Tried to get 'Please Don't Leave Me' by P!NK stuck in my head. Succeeded. Partially. Taylor Swift was the reason :)
Now my only hopes are Tuesdays and Thursdays
D&T...hopefully as fun as past 2 years.
Choir...juniors are awesome. Junior Juniors...wow. Just...wow
Oh, and current Sec 3s of Choir, get it in your heads. Just because previous Sec 3s don't bond or even INTERACT with Sec 1s, doesn't mean you do the same stupid thing. Be nice. Sec1s are Super Awesome.
I miss Sec 2. Darn.
Singapore Idol - Stitch! - Avatar - Rhino thingy
Monday, December 28, 2009
Sezairi won?! Are you serious?! What?! Sylvia should've won! She's neither male nor Malay! She should've won! Wait, is she Malay? No, right? Oh, she's Philippino? One of the greatest races(?) ever!
Anyway, seriously, 3 times in a row some Malay Guy wins? This is definitely not a talent show, more of a popularity contest... Like choosing your Primary School Monitor.
Personally, I only watched a few episodes of Singapore Idol, so it doesn't really bother me, although did like that Charles Wong guy. The 'Stitch'.
Speaking of Stitch, Disney Channel's new show is awesome!
It's so exciting! Although 001 to 625 are no more in the show (i think), there's this bunch of weird Japanese monster things, which are so cute (some of them anyway)!!! And that new 'Lilo' is as hyper as Lilo herself, so that's a keeper!
Speaking of aliens, I watched Avatar that day, with...
- Lee Jiang
- Daniel Lau
- Lim Ting Jie
- Yogesh
- Dominic
The special effects and the sound effects was AWESOME! The plot was complete rubbish. New Moon's plot owned it upside down. But one good thing I really liked about Avatar is the lack of Taylor Lautner, who I REPEAT IS NOT A SEXY WEREWOLF. HE IS NEITHER SEXY NOR IS HE A WEREWOLF. Read Breaking Dawn.
But wait! There's more! Read the above complaint, and get DOUBLE the offer! Yes, I said Double!
Those blue guys arent AVATARS, not all of them anyway. THEY'RE KNOWN AS NA'VI, Nazi people with a few letters back.
This is an avatar:
This is a Na'vi:
This is an awesome "thing" from Avatar:
Wait! There's still more! Read BOTH complaints in the next 20 minutes, and I'll TRIPLE the offer! That's right! That means, one New Moon complaint, one Avatar complaint and one overall complaint, all for the low price of $14.99! just pay shipping and processing.
Now, here it is. Dedicated to Ting Jie. It's elementary my dear Watson! ELEMENTARY!
Just so you know, this new catchphrase has nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes, but more on the Nazi...I mean Na'vi. AT LEAST I DIDNT SAY AVATAR, did I?! NO! :D
I SO got this Pitchman thing down :D
Yay Sops, Altos and Basses!
Sunday, December 20, 2009
Oh sheesh y'all, twas a dream...ISG is over!
It is super fun to work with the Basses that day. Our 7 man team were made up of awesome Juniors, awesome seniors, and awesome Sec2s. Here was the line-up:
- Yao Sheng
- Jia Hao
- Chia Sin
- Athanasius (me)
- Hong Wen
- Brian Chiam
- Ernest
Once again Chia Sin displayed his many hidden talents, which includes, Soccer, Captain Ball, Bowling and Donut Digestion. Simply amazing.
Unfortunately we came in 3rd overall behind Altos and Tenors, who came in 2nd and 1st respectively.
It was super fun to play with the Altos and Sops especially, because they all have GREAT sportsmanship, they like to have fun, and they're not the competitive, but friendly instead.
The Sec 1 Altos are a great example, fun-loving and carefree. And they don't complain about a single thing. It appears that both the Altos and Sopranos know that...hey, everyone makes mistake, a light tap may seem like a foul, but you give chance. That was exactly how the Sops, Altos and Basses played.
Now, we move on to the last section. Tenors. They had a huge advantage in many areas. Like Benjamin in Captain Ball, Hendrik in Soccer, Rifdi in Soccer, ya, you get mii point.
Like all great teams, they had an balance of teamwork and skill. But for some players, well....actually...just one, he was snobby, and unfair, with a lack of sportsmanship. WORSE, he was disrespectful to not only juniors, but to a SENIOR, a SENIOR that I think should be respected as much as all the other seniors, if not more.
Like I said in my disclaimer, names can/will be mentioned. So JING YE, let me get this clear to you. Wei Heng is your SENIOR, Enning is your ex-classmate, stop being rude to them.
Also everyone makes mistakes, just because I tried to swipe away a ball that was heading into Dwayne's hands, but was a fraction of a second too late, that doesn't mean I cheated or "fouled", so don't be a stuck-up snob. I mean it.
But in the end, we all had fun, especially being with the Sec 1s, that's like a super bonus or something. Sec 1s are the greatest things that has happened to me in choir...imagine next years Sec 1s! Yay!
Top 10: Album artwork. :D
Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Good day to you all, remember how I wondered what to do for my next post? I shall end the suspense.
Ladies and germs, I really don't know what to do, so with suppourt from Lee Jiang, I present to you my Top 10 Music Art that can be found in my iTunes. Let's start off with the creatively named...number 10
10 . The Fame - Lady Gaga
This album art is PERSONAL. Lady Gaga's personality is like....Katy Perry x400. In other words way too much. The reason this album is on the list is because that it's just a picture of Lady Gaga, Sunglasses and Reflection. I don't get "disturbed as compared to looking at her...do ANYTHING.
The reason she's at number 10? Ironically, it's a matter of marketing. It doesn't show her personality, especially if you compare it with the Fame Monster. Also, it's too plain that I don't like it. Wanna know what is too plain but I like it? It's further on on the list.
9. We Started Nothing - The Ting Tings
If I was a person who bought an album because it looks nice, this would be in my shopping bag.
I like the vibrant and matching colours. And it has something I like, empty spots. On top, left, right, there's empty spots everywhere! If they were holding stuff like Pianos or the Drum itself, it would not even BE on the list.
I also like it's amateur-ish look. Like a scrapbook, pieces of paper stuck on it and calling it album art. Brilliant. And seriously, empty spots? AWESOME
What I don't like? It doesnt represent anything. As a debut album, it should show more about the duo besides the fact that they play drums. Also, it may have it's fair share of empty spots, but I think it's a little too much. They could've put some little designs on the corner...Take Taylor Swift's Taylor Swift for example. The setting shows the calmness and love'like nature of her songs. Same thing should be done here.
8. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge - My Chemical Romance
Are you puzzled by the fact that this is even in my library? So am I. It's gory, it's dark, it's emo. But if think about it. It's touching. I like it because of that, because it's touching. Just like ROMEO AND JULIET, gory love.
I'm not sure whether that's blood or ketchup, but either way, it's still touching.
If it's blood, in a sense, it signifies that, through thick and thin, love will still be there.
If it's Ketchup, in a sense, it signifies that they both love Hot Dogs so much, they're drawn to each others Sausagey breaths.
I also like it in the way that it's done, the sketchy ways make it very personal, emphasising the love. Wow.
Why is it so high on the list? That red stuff. Enough said.
7. Britney - Britney Spears
There's only 3 colours on this 8 year old album, blue, pink, yellow. That's what makes it so nice. You take a nice scene (Britney Spears just sitting there), add crazy colours and you get an electrifying album by an electrifying artist. This is one of my examples on suiting the artiste's personality. It's eye-catching, it's wonderful.
Like I said, it suits her personality, and yet, that's why it's on number 7, and not any lower. The way they achieved this feat was through colour and not through the clothes she's wearing or the position she's in. That's my excuse. Poor positioning.
6. Rebelution - Pitbull
First of all, note the content of the artwork. Pitbull, that thing, words. FULLSTOP. A few things and he calls it an album artwork, that's what I call simplicity and creativity at the same time.
If you actually look at the songs, there's no much you can put into the album artwork, I mean..if you're gonna have songs called 'Full Of Shit' and 'I Know You Want Me' put together in the same album, you might as well leave the artwork blank. And also, you gotta agree, whatever that girl thing is, it's pretty cool standing next to a suited up guy.
Now here's my favourite part, look below his name, and to the right of the 2 people. What do you see? NOTHING! Exactly! NOTHING! Empty Spaces! Awesome
One thing I don't like about it though, that girl thing (again). It looks creepy, out of place, for a kid/teenager, sick. That's pretty much it. Empty Spaces!
5. My December - Kelly Clarkson
I just have to say...WOW. Never has Kelly Clarkson sang so sad/emo songs all in a single album. I would know, I've heard all :D Clearly, she's portrayed that in the artwork, the sadness, the feeling of being lost and hopeless, darkness falling upon her, it's all there. Plus, that dress is super nice! I especially like this album artwork when you compare it with 'Thankful' and 'Breakaway', or even the newer 'All I Ever Wanted', you can see a super obvious contrast of emotions when you look at the albums themselves. The colours match extremely well, it is stunning!
The way her name is "written" also portrays the emotion in this album. That makes it look rather cool.
What I don't like is very simple colour, and the stuff around her. The colour of the dress is very beautiful, everything else, not so much. The stuff around her on the floor is always those twigs and that white stuff. I think it need more variety, to show a deeper sense of falling darkness. As simple as that. Better still, don't put anything on the floor, ruins the Awesome dress!
4. One Of The Boys
Lemme say that this is one of the reasons I like Katy Perry so much, her album artworks and her Single artworks. I love the colour, the position she's in, the clothes she's wearing, and especially the mood transformation when I see this. It is simply wonderful and amazing.
The colour, it makes you happy in a snap. Look at it! Look at it! There's pink, blue, white, green, etc. It's a really colourful scene. She's also in her relaxation position as if on a beach or just simply tanning on her back/front yard. Describes the songs very well, most of 'em at least. 'Thinking Of You' is an example. Other then that, it's a very nice scene.
Now here's the problem You have the sky that you wanna enjoy, you have Katy Perry you wanna enjoy, you have that pink-box thing you wanna enjoy, you have her hat you wanna enjoy, etc.etc.etc.
There's simply too much for you to absorb at once. But even if you don't it's still nice :D
3. Relapse - Eminem
At a quick and first glance, what does it look like? Eminem's face, in red, painted on a smashed rock, with a label at the bottom. That's what I thought. When I looked closer, that's when I started liking this artwork.
That smashed rock? Those are actually drugs, pills, stuff you're not suppose to consume unless advised by the doctor. Very creative and the Photoshop skills involved...wow, I am still impressed till now. The story behind it is quite poor though. It's all about Eminem's old life surrounded by drugs, drugs and drugs. That's a factor in his songs most of the time, drugs.
That "label" is pretty cool as well, it's like a doctor's cert. or a instruction slip for your "drugs", and it lists quite a few details of the album.
What I really like is still the Photoshop involved for this picture, simply stunning that's what make it so high on the list. If everything but the Photoshop skills weren't on the artwork, this album would be number 9 or something, just for it's creativity. Other than the Photoshop, Relapse isn't all that nice, but still EXTREMELY creative.
2. Beautiful Eyes - Taylor Swift
This and number 1 ares seriously seriously tied. No doubts about it. Number 1 and 2 are perfect. i'll get back to you when I find a flaw.
- Taylor Swift's presence = 70 points,
- the flower she wields = 15 points
- the pretty little designs= 25 points
- Beatiful Eyes for the album 'Beautiful Eyes' = 150 points.
Just the last element alone can overshoot the point limit of 100 points.
Like 'One Of The Boys' the colours make you happy, bonus goes to the flower. The fact that only Yellow and Orange are involved, may make the artwork plain, but in my opinion, these colours go so well together, you shouldn't care whether it's plain or not. Those little designs on the corners, SO CUTE! The famous hair are a bonus, so is that smile. Last and definitely not least, those 'Beautiful Eyes' for the album named......Beautiful Eyes, and the words near the eyes to emphasize it in a calm and pretty manner. She acts cute with that position, that flower, and guess what, she successfully does that without a flaw. Perfection. Bonus, the fact that Taylor Swift is BEYOND AWESOME makes this album art work better :D It's eye-catching overall, brilliance at it's most brilliant.
1. Under My Skin - Avril Lavigne
I bet you weren't expecting this... Anyway...wait what? You thought this was gonna be a Taylor Swift album too? Well, haha!
Anyway, back to the topic. Let's discuss this for a second. We see....
- Avril Lavigne's reflection in Mirror
- That big 'X' on her shoulder
- That Mirror
- Her name
- That melted/broken bit of the mirror
Let's discuss now what the album is about...
- Being torn apart/broken to pieces
- Saddened beyond limits
- Emo/Punk stuff
- Similar stuff to 'My December'
- You get my point.
By putting herself on the cover, we know it's gonna be some sad story and some punk thing as we learnt from her debut album 'Let Go'.
The suit, look at the suit she's wearing, ignore the 'X' for the time being...that' emphasizes emo-ness, like the cover of 'Let Go'.
Her name, it's in a very burnt destroyed font. Perfect for a scenario like this. So far, it sounds like Avril Lavigne's version of 'Rebelution', a person, a name and blank space. GUESS WHAT?! Blank spaces!
Her where Kelly Clarkson's album designers should have learnt. You may choose a super super nice dress, but if your scene is so complicated, the dress loses it's beauty. There was simply too much things to look at to concentrate to truly get the emotion.
Now we move on to that melt/break in that top-left corner. Yes, it does make it nicer. The album designers of the Ting Tings should have learnt. Too much empty spaces = Too plain. That rip just filled up one of the empty spaces like that. Better still, it filled it up in a very nice way that emphasizes the emotion of the album.
Now, we move on to the truly empty space. You may notice a few spots. That make it look dirty giving a sense of hopelessness especially since the album is monochrome.... Other than that, I think that the empty space, just THAT one, represents a feeling of emptiness....
Now we move on to the eye-catcher. That 'X'. Denial is the word to define it. The denial to face the outside (represented by the mirror) after all the saddening that has happened. Simple as that. Like number 2, Avril Lavigne's Under My Skin is PERFECT. Perfect, like the mirrored dimension Avril wants to cross, as depicted by her facial expression towards the mirror.
BONUS!!!!
Now, here's one artwork I really wanted to out in the list, in my top 3. Unfortuantely, it's not an ALBUM artwork, but rather, a SINGLE artwork.
At first, i thought of putting theYou're Not Sorry by Taylor Swift artwork as the Bonus.
However, I found something even better,
- American Girl - Taylor Swift
Let's talk about the song for a moment. This song was rumored to be about a sad story. RUMORED. Fortunately, this rumor has been proven false. Phew! It's about life as a humble American girl and looking into the future and reflecting about the past.
The background just SCREAMS American, with it's national colours and the simple thought of the name of the song, AMERICAN Girl.
And, as usual we have the lovely Taylor Swift smack right in front of the artwork. Once again she faces the side, like how she does it in the Fearless album.
But NOTE, in this artwork her head is raised higher and her hair is strangely lower and more 'smooth' as compared to other pictures of her. I believe that represents looking up into the future, and leaving the past behind and carrying on happy.
Also, I don't think I need to explain the 'Girl' Part. It's staring you in the face.
That was a a mouthful (or fingerful) make sure you tag about this post, don't waste my efforts!
Taylor Swift's Birthday!
Sunday, December 13, 2009
Today is the awesome Taylor Swift's birthday, so I've decided to choose THIS day to talk about what buzzing in the media about her very recently...
...HER HAIR!!!
I mean, if I were to say the words 'Taylor Swift', here's some of the things that will pop in your head.
- Awesome songs
- Awesome music
- Country!
- Kanye West VMA interruption (forget that!)
- AWESOME BLOND WAVY HAIR
- Awesome country look given by her AWESOME BLONDE WAVY HAIR
- etc.
If you've been under her rock for quite some time, you would be unaware that Taylor Swift has changed her hair, but she has. However, if you haven't seen it yet, lemme show it to you. Fortunately, she's still very pretty:
BEFORE:
AFTER:

Now, I know there's a picture size contrast, but the new hairstyle is so hard to find, I just had to make do...
But still,
...THE HAIR!
Here are the reasons that people have came up with...some are quite funny :D
- It's just for a photoshoot, so she will get her curls back (Phew!)
- Her own Birthday Present, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
- Celebrating the new year, 2010
- Forced against her will by Taylor Lautner.....HAHAHA (celebrity gossip is weird AND funny)
- She got inspired by Hannah Montana after watching the show (wow)
- etc.
I won't make this post too long, but I just want to end off saying that I have a sudden love for the Twilight Saga! Alice Cullen!
You thought I ended? Ha! Here are some of my final thoughts....
What do i think about Taylor Swift's new hairstyle?
- It makes her look older. She looks 20+ now. That's quite okay considering she turned 20 TODAY
- Good thing she's still blond. Brown is fine too, I learnt that from watching CSI: Crime Scene Investigation S9E16: Turn, Turn, Turn
- She looks like Pixie Lott with smaller eyes. That's good :)
- She's still really pretty
- This may have nothing to do with hair, but Fearless: Platinum Edition sounds Awesome! Beyond Awesome even! It's....BEAWESOME!
- She's still my favourite musician, no doubt.
- If theory Number 4 is true, I hope that Twilight fangirls chase Taylor Lautner, their "sexy werewolf" until Taylor Lautner runs into a pole and gets a coma.
Let's see what I can come up with for my next post, wow.
Back from Camp :)
Sunday, November 15, 2009
Just got back from the 3D2N Choir Camp which was so "BOOMZ"!!! I learn so many lessons each day which I will List later on. LATER ON!!!
Day 1 (Friday the 13th)
We got grouped.
These were the group members :) :
- Jing Ye (leader)
- Wen Cong
- Aloysius
- Jing Wei
- Sean Goh
- Me!!
Why am I not leader? Not because I'm un-awesome, but because I'm already the BBQ i/c...wow.
First thing to do was to come up with an idea of a mascot and a group flag. We decided to just put the Mascot on the Flag, so much for creativity.
Here were the top 4 ideas:
- Circle (All-rounded)
- Ninja (Swift and fear-inflicting)
- Ladder (Ladder to success)
- MJ (?)
For some reason, we chose ......4.
WHAT?!
In the end, I decided to volunteer myself as the guy to actually tape the flag together. In the end, Group 6 (my group), got the greatest amount of tape and the greatest structural flag suppourt, but the worst design :) I blame the leader :D We got the lowest points...haha
We also got information that we had to do a skit for the camp's Talent Time....here's what we had to do:
- Theme: It's My Wallet!
- Pose: Nobody Nobody but You
- Catchphrase: .....Showcase their talents! (we said this at least 5 times)
No link? Fortunately, yours truly found the greatest link of all time! OF ALL TIME! carry on.
Then the Comm decided to go outside for outdoors prac. Considering it was monsoon season, it was a really "good" plan.
Results: Prac in the East Coast Park toilet, insane rain, combines in a BBQ shelter.
IT WAS REALLY FUN and, shockingly, no sarcasm there.
But I was really angry when we came back to school. At the enterance, JOSHUA CHIA (emphasis) shouted: "Oi! Hurry Up! So slow!" Sounds okay right? Lemme set the scene.
Each one of us, survived 2hrs of non-stop walking through rain and mud (in flip-flops). What did he do? Went back to school, the moment it started raining, as dry as the Sahara.
At night, we watched some Thai Horror movie called "Coming Soon", with a zombie woman named 'Chaba'. Her name has become an inside joke.
But her face, is no joke....

Day 2
Start of a new day, having more and more fun. Needed more tape for flag :)
First was the VS Open House performance, which was really fun, knowing that I can have more juniors, and my juniors can have juniors! They grow up so fast....and all we can do is just sit and watch...wait What?!
After our amazing performance in front of a huge amount of people, we prepared for the "Amazing Race"!!!
Here were the highlights:
- Sean and his IQ for solving riddles....haha
- The entire group's lack of stamina to climb stairs (except Wen Cong)
- Wind is evil!
- I can find something buried in sand in like....0.3 seconds?
- Drawing a finger to complete a puzzle
- 50 Green bottles with Eugene Hsu distracting only me
Next was the greatest moment of the Sec2s lives, the BBQ! Best part? Lie Wen, Hong Wen, and I were i/c!
Long story short, nature is a drag...
Finally was the time I was waiting for....TALENT TIME!
Clearly we got our roles, and an AMAZING script written by Jing Ye and I :D
I helped write most the lines and actions for myself, Wen Cong, Aloysius and Jing Wei.
Our storyline was about a talent contest (irony) to see who can win a LV wallet!
Roles were:
- Me: Rapper (hint: Kanye West...shhh!)
- Aloysius: Ultra Lame Paper Magician
- Jing Wei: Sock Puppeteer
- Wen Cong: Cocky Salesman
- Sean: Hip-hop dancer
- Jing Ye: MJ impersonator (lolwut)
I'm so jealous of Jing Wei because of his role and script, so cool. And it also appeared that i was the only evil guy in the skit. I made sure that everyone had to get claps while I got jeers, which means we did out job well.
Movie Time! This time we watched a movie that i really wanted to watch, but had always forgotten to watch the whole thing, but only part of it. It was called Les Choristes, or The Chorus.
It was super nice, like watching a 1.5 hr Music Video of Fifteen!

Day 3
Last Day! And we started with PT. It's suppose to stand for Physical Training. Not exactly the case for that day...more like Physical Torture....
Anyway, after that, we had to clean up the parts of the school we used. My group and our secret-allianced group, Group 5, was assigned the BBQ Pit, and what did we do? Use a Fire Hose.....What?! And that was pretty much it, and oh ya! My group got 2nd place! And it's all thanks to the Juniors for their enthusiasm :) Good job Sean, Aloysius and Jing Wei!
Top 5 Quotes for the camp:
- "Don't!" - Lie Wen (while playing a car passenger)
- "I'm Ultraman!" - Elliot (while playing an Idol judge)
- "The paper looks cool, as awesome as me even!" - Me! (while playing as Kanye West)
- "Jerry Ee, 35, is described by the Interpol Notices as being about 1.62 metres tall and weighing 50 kilograms" - Justin
- "No! no! no! no! no! yes...no!" - Leroy (while playing a rebellious girlfriend)
Top 5 Opinions on the camp:
- Justin is a terrible girl
- Jing Ye is very mean to Sean
- Most 2H people are very b*tchy
- People are very mean to Wei Heng for no reason whatsoever
- Teamwork helped produce the script. We all wrote the script, we all formed the link.
Top 5 lessons learnt from the camp:
- No sushi rice? Put Mayo into the rice, and you'll be fine.
- Juniors are awesome!
- $150 can't do anything when it comes to BBQing food
- Matches break into 2 if you strike too hard
- Crabsticks take forever to thaw, let alone cook....
